Convention preview: purpose, connection, and a bold strategic direction ahead
Published on 30 October 2025
November marks a season of milestones and momentum. In just a few days, I’ll step into my first Sigma Biennial Convention—and I can already feel the extraordinary energy that brings our global community together. Hundreds of nurses, united by purpose and passion, will gather not only to learn and connect but to celebrate the impact we create every day through our leadership, compassion, and commitment to excellence.
This year’s convention is more than an event—it’s a reflection of who we are and where we’re going. We’ve reimagined the experience to spark collaboration, creativity, and joy. You’ll see new ways to share ideas, build meaningful relationships, and take a breath together as a profession that has carried so much for so long. Yes, we’ll have fun—but more importantly, we will rediscover the strength we find in one another.
And speaking of what comes next, there is something important on the horizon for Sigma. Over the past year, our staff and Board of Directors have listened deeply: to members, to leaders, to chapters around the world, and to the evolving needs of the nursing profession. What we heard is clear: Sigma must not only serve our members today—we must boldly shape the future of nursing tomorrow.
That is why, at convention, President Sandra C. Garmon Bibb and I will introduce a new, multi-year strategic direction that will guide our organization into its next chapter. I won’t reveal everything just yet, but I can tell you this: the strategic framework is about focus. It is about relevance. It is about unleashing the full power of our global community to drive impact across nursing, healthcare, and the world.
This is not simply a plan on paper. It is a movement—one rooted in belonging, innovation, advocacy, and purpose. It calls us to accelerate what we do best: connect, empower, and elevate nurse leaders everywhere.
I invite you to be part of this moment. Whether you’re joining us in Indianapolis or following along on social media, I hope you’ll lean in, stay engaged, and add your voice to what comes next. The future of Sigma—and of nursing leadership—will be written together.
I cannot wait to take this next step with you.
With gratitude,
Luke Davis
