Sigma introduces a new virtual mini academy focusing on global advocacy

Former United Nations (UN) liaisons of Sigma Nursing are launching a new Virtual Mini Academy: Global Advocacy—Unlocking the Power of the Nurse Advocate. Participants will refine their advocacy efforts, learn more about Sigma's consultative status with the UN, and understand their role in furthering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each participant will have interactive experiences that can be used for healthcare and policy advocacy application, locally and globally.

At the end of this six-week academy, participants will have identified their role as a nurse advocate and learned about advocacy tools, participated in simulated UN discussions and meetings, developed strategies to educate the public about the influence of the nursing profession on health and health outcomes, and created a Global Advocacy Action Plan for presentation and implementation. 

Nurses have the power to be excellent advocates and are the key to the successful completion of global efforts to improve health equity and healthcare.
