Sigma launches seventh cohort of the Global Advocacy Virtual Mini Academy
Published on 31 July 2025
Sigma Nursing is proud to announce its seventh cohort of the Virtual Mini Academy: Global Advocacy.
In this six-week, fully virtual academy, participants will learn how they can become advocates for nurses everywhere. Through interactive experiences, participants will refine their advocacy efforts, learn more about Sigma's consultative status with the UN, and understand their role in furthering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The knowledge gained in this academy allows for healthcare and policy advocacy that can be applied both in the local community and on the global stage.
In addition to identifying their role as a nurse advocate, participants will:
- Learn directly from former UN representatives
- Develop strategies to educate the public about the influence of the nursing profession on health outcomes
- Collaborate with like-minded nurses on global health initiatives
- Discover a worldview of global health issues
- Explore the interconnectedness of communities
- Create an Advocacy Action Plan for presentation and implementation
Nurses have the power to be excellent advocates and are the key to the successful completion of global efforts to improve health equity and healthcare. This academy is designed to help nurses unlock this power and potential.
Applications for the Global Advocacy Virtual Mini Academy are now open and will close on 26 August. Sigma members receive a discounted participation fee of US $50. Learn more and apply.
