Published on 3 May 2023

This webinar discusses what food insecurity is, how food insecurity impacts a patient's health, and the nurse's role related to patient care and food insecurity.

Food insecurity has been identified as potentially the most impactful social determinant of health. More than 2 billion people are without food or unable to eat a healthy balanced diet worldwide, according to the United Nations. Food insecurity has been noted to be associated with multiple chronic health conditions that nurses see each day in practice; however, a knowledge gap exists about the nurse's role in food insecurity. This webinar discusses what food insecurity is, how food insecurity impacts a patient's health, and the nurse's role related to patient care and food insecurity.
