Investing in Nurses, Moving Healthcare Forward
Our Purpose
The Sigma Foundation for Nursing is the philanthropic arm of Sigma Nursing.
The Sigma Foundation for Nursing was established to ensure that the best ideas in nursing practice, research, and leadership can move from possibility to impact. With the help of our generous donors, the Foundation supports nurses, nurse researchers, and nurse leaders across career stages, practice and academic settings, and geographic regions.

What We Fund
Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare profession.
Nursing research and leadership are how the profession advances. When a nurse researcher receives a grant, findings move into clinical practice. When a nurse leader receives development support, healthcare systems improve. Investing in nurses is investing in the health of the world. Donate today!
The Foundation offers scholarships for nurses pursuing undergraduate and advanced degrees, including the RN to BSN Scholarship, the Helene Fuld Trust Scholarship for nurses in accelerated degree and DNP programs, and the Dion Family Scholarship for nurses specializing in nursing informatics or gerontological nursing.
The Foundation offers competitive research and project grants designed to support nurses engaged in scientific inquiry that promises to improve patient outcomes and advance the profession.
Grants range from small awards for early-stage research to collaborative grants developed in partnership with other leading nursing organizations, including the National League for Nursing, the Midwest Nursing Research Society, the Southern Nursing Research Society, the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, and the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses.
The Foundation’s research and project grants reflect a deep commitment to equity and inclusion. Several grants specifically encourage research focused on marginalized populations or support nurses in regions where research funding is scarce, including Latin America and the Caribbean.
In partnership with Sigma’s education programs, the Foundation supports leadership development opportunities, including leadership education grants and membership subsidies that develop nurses who lead change in clinical settings, academic institutions, and policy arenas.
The Foundation supports Sigma's global initiatives, including the Sigma Repository and its presence at the United Nations. This support amplifies nursing's impact on health policy worldwide, furthering the profession's reach and influence on the global stage.
Our Impact
Every grant, scholarship, and leadership program the Foundation supports has a ripple effect.
The Foundation’s impact is measured not just in dollars awarded, but in the healthcare outcomes and systems improved, and the patients whose lives are better because a nurse had the support of the Sigma Foundation for Nursing.
Ways to Give
Choose the way to give that’s right for you and help advance our mission to develop nurse leaders anywhere to improve healthcare everywhere.
